Brief: An activity to capture the conference’s message

It can be very easy to have a jam packed three day conference full of content and messages and feel like a job is well done, but our client wanted a team activity that would allow them to see if the company’s DNA message had been received. To achieve this we recommended our ‘Lights, Camera, Action’ team activity.

The task was to make a 60 second film with a catchphrase based on the day’s learning. Each team was given a genre in which to direct their films that covered a wide variety of styles, from Film Noir to Futuristic to Spy.

The activity started with a briefing from Sam, our expert. Sam’s role as film director was to explain the rules and expectations of the afternoon whilst in character and get the teams in the mood for their challenge. As a seasoned actor Sam was able to do this with the use of technical language and directorial advice.

The teams were allocated their film genre and given time to choose their locations and the props they wanted to use on set.

Each team were given one of our trained crew members to video the scenes, while our expert Sam went from group to group offering advice on setting the scene, camera angles, lighting, accents and body language.

Once all the scenes had been shot, the teams were then given the chance to edit their creations before submitting them.

The day finished with a premiere of the films and an awards ceremony.
