Best new venue openings in the UK (2022)

Rooftop bars, state of the art event spaces and onsite bakeries – 2022 is going to be a big one for venues launching in the UK. We’ve picked out our favourites opening their doors this year (plus a couple from late last year that are worthy of a mention). Raffles at OWO

One of the most anticipated hotel openings of 2022, Raffles will be bringing their luxury hospitality to the UK. Housed in the former office of Winston Churchill (the Old War Office near Horse Guards Parade and Whitehall), Raffles will be historic grandeur at its best. Hand-laid mosaic floors, oak panelling and chandeliers will be just a few of the restored features. French architect Thierry Despont, who has Claridge’s and The Ritz Paris under his belt of renovation projects, will be helping to bring back life to the interiors. Rumoured to have a state of the art event space, we can’t wait to see what Raffles is going to offer for corporate events.

Fairmont Windsor Park

Fairmont Windsor Park sits on 40 acres of green space just an hour from London.  This new hotel houses 200 bedrooms, a range of bars and restaurants and a luxury spa and wellness centre. Guests can wind down with a Royal Gardens cocktail in the Botanicals Bar or enjoy a Japanese foot bath in the spa. With 15 meeting rooms to choose from, Fairmont Windsor Park can cater for a boardroom meeting of 12 up to a conference for 700.

Twenty Two

With a prime position on Grosvenor Square, The Twenty Two will be a hotel and members club with a difference. Designed with the community in mind, The Twenty Two hopes to welcome everyone, whatever their profession, culture and how they choose to dress.  Located in a grand Edwardian manor, interiors will be a mixture of rich texture fabrics, lush velvets and bespoke to the hotel wallpapers. The Twenty Two will join some of London’s most luxurious hotels on the square – The Rosewood’s The Chancery (opening in 2024), The Biltmore Mayfair and The London Marriott Hotel.  When booking bedrooms for an event, your guests will have access to the members club, the outdoor terrace, cocktail bar and evening dining room.

The Broadwick Soho

Nestled in the heart of Soho, this is a fantastic space if you want to host an event with the buzz of central London around you. With the designers behind The Wolseley and Annabel’s, the decor is described as ‘your eccentric grandmother’s Soho townhouse’. Expect great things from F&B with Randall and Aubin’s Jamie Poulton and chef Ed Baines behind the scenes.

1Hotel Mayfair

Known for its environmentally friendly practices, 1Hotel is coming to London. Overlooking Green Park, this will be a 184 bedroom hotel housed across nine stories. Bringing their sustainability mission to the hotel, there will be a farm to table restaurant, a wellness centre and a communal lobby bar. Designed as a new style of hotel experience, that brings luxury to sustainability, this is an excellent choice of venue for those looking to protect the planet.

Inhabit

In early 2022, Inhabit will be another sustainability-focused hotel on the London scene. Located in Paddington, the hotel will focus on nurturing the mind and body. With health and wellness front and centre, guests can enjoy mindful nature walks, morning meditation or yoga classes. Their food is designed to nourish the body, so expect healthier options, including a plant-centric meat-free menu. For companies looking to support their employee’s health and wellness, Inhabit Paddington will be a great hotel choice for companies looking to support their employees’ health and wellness.

The Retreat Elcot Park

The second opening from The Signet Collection (the team behind The Mitre at Hampton Court), The Retreat Elcot Park, is a luxury country house in Berkshire. One mention of their bakery and wine store, and we know that this will be an amazing space. The perfect space for a corporate retreat, The Retreat has a variety of spaces to entertain a group. A whisky tasting room, a spa for relaxing in and a variety of country pursuits just on its doorstep. Add to that that it’s only 45 minutes from London, and we know that this will be a venue that gets booked up quick.

The Albion, Wales

Set across two warehouses, The Albion has hints of its maritime location throughout. With much of the original building being retained, including historical graffiti, this space will have guests captured by the intricate details. With sustainability embedded into the project, bedrooms have been designed with reclaimed materials and locally made Welsh blankets – a great space for a corporate retreat or UK incentive.

Gleneagles Townhouse, Edinburgh

When the team behind Gleneagles has a new opening on the cards, you know it will be great! Moving from the countryside to the city, the Gleneagles Townhouse will have a members club, plus a rooftop terrace with jaw-dropping views over Edinburgh.  With lots of private spaces tucked away, this hotel is ideal for smaller events. Book their Counting Room for your meeting, and round off your day with a Negroni on the rooftop.

Woods Quay, London

Woods Quay is a floating venue on the River Thames, nestled between Cleopatra’s Needle and Waterloo Bridge. Ideally suited to more intimate events, Woods Quay is a chic space with floor to ceiling windows, a tasting room (perfect for a pre-dinner wine or whisky tasting with a view) and a wraparound deck. Drawing on the palette around it, Woods Quay has nods of maritime influences mixed with natural materials. With a prime spot on the river, guests can arrive or depart by boat.

Designed by the world-renowned architects Foster + Partners, art’otel sits in the historic Battersea Power Station. The space is expected to be phenomenal, with art at the heart of the brand. Guests can enjoy exceptional views from the rooftop pool and garden before settling down for a cocktail in their double-height bar.

The Fox at Oddington, Oxfordshire

You can always feel confident that when Carole Bamford adds her touch to an establishment, she will create a magnificent space. Having built the Daylesford empire, Carole is now turning her hand to a local pub in the Cotswold’s. With easy access to the spa facilities of Daylesford Farm and housing eight bedrooms, this pub is an excellent option for small corporate retreats and away days.
